reason for action

people's voice is crucial
IN THE END, FOR THE GREENS, ITS THE PEOPLE'S VOICE THAT NEEDS TO BE HEAR LOUD AND CLEAR. ITS THE PEOPLE'S METHODS THAT SHOULD HAVE THE GREATEST SAY IN CHARTING THEIR FUTURE!

people helping themselves
WHEN ALL IS SAID AND DONE, ITS NOT ABOUT WHO GAVE WHAT TO WHOM AND HOW MUCH OF IT. RATHER, IT WAS IN THE EXTENT TO WHICH AN EXTERNAL ENTITY HELPED THE PEOPLE HLEP THEMSELVES THAT REALLY MATTERS.

people help themselves kalametiya
WHEN THE GREEN MOVEMENT SAYS IT WORKS WITH THE PEOPLE IT TRULY MEANS THAT. TO THE EXTENT THAT IT IS POSSIBLE TO GET THE COMMUNITY TO UNDERSTAND THAT THEY ARE THE ONLY TRUE CUSTODIANS OF THEIR OWN FUTURE, WE ARE PROUD THAT OUR WORK HAS INCULCATED THAT SENSE OF OWNERSHIP IN THE PEOPLE.

Activities

Solutions to socio-economic problems cannot usually be found within "project life-cycles" . DELIVERY ORGANIZATIONS ENSURE SHORT TERM OUTPUTS AND LONG TERM DISASTERS. Funding is important but not always crucial! "Best practices require large amounts of time, clear planning and high responsiveness to community knowledge, sensibilities and sensitivities" TRANSPARENCY, ACCOUNTABILITY AND PARTICIPATION SHOULD NOT ONLY BE BUZZ WORDS BUT THE BASIS FOR LIFE. External experts are not, external resource people arn't . Corruption and profiteering have become a way of life with southern governments and southern civil organizations.

Our strategy for governance is as follows:

  1. Based on holistic fundamentals, formulate strategies for ensuring sustainable development in interrelated geographies, sectors and socio-economic and socio-political environments
  2. Select locations where these strategies can be practiced best and, with the help of those communities, implement them as proof of validity
  3. Create linkages amongst key players (GSOs, PSOs, CSOs, UNOs. TUs and CCs) to further support such action
  4. Leverage media instruments (publications, documentaries, press, electronic media etc.) to publicize these best practices
  5. Use practical proof to lobby the government for policy and legislative changes that will ensure nationwide use of these practices

As is apparent, this is not an easy task since holistic development encompasses practically every aspect of life and requires extensive thinking and a great deal of heart to successfully implement. For the Green Movement, therefore, every single one of its programs is of utmost importance to this one program and feeds it through various hard and soft interventions and therefore, regardless of the specific areas of expertise of GMSL staff, every single staffer, volunteer and national expert involved in these activities is constantly contributing in some form or other to the GCAP program. Over the years, therefore, the GMSL has built a strong reputation for its activities and currently enjoys the respect of most organizations that work on sustainability in development.
